Wednesday morning update:
Renee’s doing well without the NG tube. As I said last night it looks like the catheter comes out today. We still have some questions about the amount of discharge from the rectum and the doctors are monitoring. A light room temperature liquid diet will be introduced around lunch time. Renee’s oxygen level was just measured at 96. She’s read through all of her magazines and is starting to watch a little TV. Walks are coming more frequently and the bed is starting to annoy her, all good signs.
She still wants no part of the computer and due to the pain meds it is doubtful that she remembers anything I’ve read to her. But don’t let that stop you from commenting. I’ll even have to start responding to a few that I’ve been too distracted to focus on.
Renee continues to expand on her visions that took her on her little vacation the other night. They keep getting wilder. So I’ve written the following in honor of her new no so favorite drug. It’s a pub tune so grab a glass of your beverage of choice and sing along.Thorazine
To the tune of Moonshiner
I’ve been a good patient
For many a year
I’ve took all me meds
That they’ve given here
But I got the hiccups
And they just wouldn’t flee
so they gave me a shot of
chemical lobotomy
Oh, thorazine, Oh, thorazine
Oh, how I hate thee
You messed up my mind
On just 10cc
I can’t eat when I’m hungry
I can’t drink when I’m dry
And if thorazine don’t kill me
I just might survive
Hallucinations you bring
The visions I see
They don’t mean a thing
My neck is all twitchy
My brain’s ill at ease
They treated the symptom
But not the disease
Together now,
Oh, thorazine, Oh, thorazine
Oh, how I hate thee
You messed up my mind
On just 10cc
I can’t eat when I’m hungry
I can’t drink when I’m dry
And if thorazine don’t kill me
I just might survive
I think I just peed my pants laughing. Bob, you may become a famous singer/songwriter before too long. Just to let you know, Cassidy is in good hands. I took her out to McDonald's the other night and inlisted her help to pass out fliers. Don't worry we were only gone for 45 minutes tops! I had her home by 5:45pm. I hear she loves chicken nuggets, but the times I've taken her, she only gets an iced mocha!
ReplyDeleteLaura, good job making Cassidy work for that mocha. I'm not surprised she chose fancy chocolate milk over food. You mean I'm not famous now? Wow, that's unexpected wrinkle.
ReplyDeleteThanks for helping out!
Hey Renee and Bob:
ReplyDeleteWe miss you guys....I talk to Gale almost everyday. we did not go on the cruise to Hawaii, I just could not leave with Lyle in ICU. He came home today and is has his brain under control....Hopefully, this will be the last surgery and just some adjustments. We did get the cruise lines to let us take another trip within two weeks so we ware going to the Panama Canal on Friday. That sounds like fun. We read about you everyday and of course wish all of this was over. The girls and Avi are coming down after Christmas and will be here until New year's Day. I am inviting Cassie to our kid's New Year's Eve Gala if it is o.k. with you and she wants to come with us. We will have appetizers, of course, out to dinner, movies and of course hats, horns, treats etc. you can come too....
We love you guys and I am so sorry that you are not here Bob to hear Sammy's tirade about Kragthorpe and the UL football team....it is ugly.
marlene
Marlene, Thanks. Great to here that Lyle's home and doing well. Has he tried thorazine for his problem? I highly recommend it. It will do Sammy well to take a break from Coach K. Its a no win situation. Get it? Want to have some real adventure? Ask the captain if Sam can drive the ship. Have a great trip.
ReplyDeleteBob and Renee, Glad to hear Renee is feeling better and on her way toward recovery. It sounds like Renee will be well enough soon, Bob,to put you in the hospital for your unabridged version of her health issues..your updates are entertaining to say the least..I'm sure Renee appreciates it immensely. If she offers to get you a glass of your favorite ale when you get home, you might want to check it for thorazine..imagine that blog.
ReplyDeleteTitled -Re-Thinking the Blog Thing
Anyway, all our best to Renee..our thoughts and prayers are with you... Kathie
KatheB, this IS the abridged version. The balance of the story has been left on the cutting room floor and most of the detail never made it that far. Even I have a little bit of decorum. And if Renee is getting me a beer, I'll know something is very, very wrong.
